‘Sarah brings a sense of calm when she walks into our resource. She is intuitive to the needs of our neurodivergent children. They look forward to spending time with her in their sessions every week which has a positive effect on their well-being’ - M. Lead Teacher
‘I enjoyed it immensely and particularly loved the safe environment you created for us complete novices, with no judgement, no expectations other to come and have fun and wonderful tuition.’ - JM

‘I liked how I could just paint whatever and it didn’t matter what it was.’ - Young Person
‘Wonderful to just ‘let go’ and not worry about the final product - very therapeutic and given me ideas to carry out with my daughter at home.’ - Mum
‘How relaxing! After fighting my “I don’t do art” voices, I completely lost myself in my drawings. I surprised myself.’ - Mum
What are they all about?
Combining my art education with my training in teaching mindfulness I offer a calm space in which you can create with a playful and curious approach. There is a focus on the sensations and present moment experience of the making process rather than on creating a ‘finished’ piece of art work… so there is no pressure and no judgement.
Creating in this way can help regulate the nervous system which can lead to us experiencing a more relaxed state and all of the benefits that come with that, such as;
Reduced heart rate
Lower blood pressure
Better digestion
Better sleep
Reduced muscle tension and, therefore, reduced pain
Calmer, more positive mental and emotional state
This space is one in which we celebrate our individuality and value each persons unique creative expression. There is no need to have any background in art and I especially encourage people who have the belief that they are ‘no good at art’ to come and let that belief go through experiencing making in a different way than they may have experienced in the past - there is no ‘right way’ or ‘wrong way’ here!
What happens?
For those who like guidance I offer a variety of mindful mark making techniques with the aim of helping you bring your focus into your senses and away from the critical mind. For those who prefer to be self guided I can offer inspiration to help get you started if needed or you are free to do your own thing with the different materials provided in each session. Making alongside each other we might listen to music, chat or relax into silence. We might inspire each other or make something collaboratively - we will see what you are open to on the day and where the creative energy takes us.
Who are these sessions for?
Children aged 6+, teenagers and adults, 1 to 1 and in small groups of up to 4 people.
Since 2013 I’ve enjoyed facilitating for children and adults, including those with SEN, those in the Home Ed community, in schools and private settings with groups and with families. Many of the people I’ve supported have mental health challenges including anxiety and low self esteem. These sessions are gentle and respectful of your current state of being.
